We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Yard Attendant to support our operations by managing materials, coordinating deliveries, and maintaining an organized and efficient yard.
Position Overview
The Yard Technician plays an important role in keeping the company's yard, fleet, and equipment operating efficiently. This position supports daily operations by preparing equipment, maintaining a safe and organized yard, assisting with loading and unloading, and safely operating construction equipment to move assets throughout the property.
The successful candidate is reliable, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable operating a variety of construction equipment in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Yard Operations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard.
- Organize equipment, materials, and storage areas.
- Load and unload equipment, materials, and deliveries.
- Stage equipment for crews and upcoming projects.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing inventory.
- Keep work areas free of debris and hazards.
- Assist with snow removal and seasonal yard maintenance as required.
Equipment Operation
Safely operate company equipment to move, stage, and organize equipment throughout the yard, including:
- Skid steers
- Mini excavators
- Excavators
- Wheel loaders
- Forklifts (where certified)
- Other construction equipment as required
Responsibilities include:
- Moving equipment to and from the shop and yard.
- Positioning equipment for repairs, maintenance, or loading.
- Assisting with loading and unloading trailers.
- Performing pre-operation inspections before equipment use.
- Reporting equipment damage or mechanical concerns immediately.
Equipment Preparation
- Wash and clean equipment.
- Grease equipment according to maintenance schedules.
- Refuel machines and equipment.
- Complete basic inspections.
- Check fluid levels and report maintenance concerns.
- Prepare equipment for deployment to job sites.
Yard Support
- Assist the Yard Foreman with daily yard operations.
- Pick up parts, supplies, and materials as required.
- Assist mechanics and technicians by staging equipment for repairs.
- Organize tools, materials, and equipment storage areas.
- Support fleet, shop, and construction crews as operational needs require.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse operations, or a related field.
- Forklift and loader operation experience required.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with POS systems, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple departments and external vendors.
- Knowledge of aggregates or construction materials is an asset.
Experience
- Experience operating construction equipment such as skid steers and excavators.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, heavy equipment, fleet, or yard operations preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical labour throughout the day.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Full-Time, SEASONAL POSITION until November.
Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
