Prairie North Const. Ltd. is a civil contractor, specializing in road construction, environmental remediation and lease construction for over 25 years. We are currently seeking a Project Manager to support operations based out of our Fort McMurray, AB field office and Aheson, AB Corporate headquarters.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the incumbent will liaise between the parties and be responsible for managing project operations including people, equipment and materials required to complete each project on time and on budget. The incumbent is an energetic individual who can work independently as well as interact effectively with clients and associates.
Essential Functions
- Be a leader in Health, Safety, Environment and Community Stewardship
- Collaborate with Preconstruction in preparing, revising, and monitoring information regarding reports related to costs involved in developing the project budget.
- Manage the subcontracting process, which includes facilitating initial scope review meetings, finalizing agreed processes, developing subcontract scopes of work, and managing the subcontract distribution and final execution process.
- Direct the process of determining the quantity of budget estimates / deliverables to the client.
- Working with the Project Coordinators, Construction Manager and Superintendents, plans and manages the implementation of contracts to meet or exceed the expectations and specifications/standards set, within or below costs and timelines;
- Manage the project administration and daily operations, escalating issues as necessary.
- Manage the project schedule and milestone dates, and ensure that close-out checklists are prepared and maintained during the project lifecycle.
- Maintain relationships and communication tools as needed with suppliers and other key project personnel to verify that materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and personnel are obtained and / or delivered when required.
- Review performance standards and metrics against which the team will be measured.
- Monitor the change management process, which includes identifying change events, submitting change notices, pricing and tracking change work, optional changes in project scope, and negotiating change orders with clients.
- Establish project teams, define roles and responsibilities, and facilitate project team meetings.
- Review contract documents and ensure proper project planning, scheduling, staffing and cost control.
- Work effectively with, and coordinate the efforts of, engineering and technical team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience And Knowledge
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or a related field with 5 to 10 years of Construction Project Management experience
- Experience in estimate preparation, forecasting, pricing, risk/claim management, contract management, profit and loss responsibility, scheduling, and quality.
- Experience working proactively regarding risk and claim management, and ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
- Project Management Professional considered an asset.
- Skills in Primavera P6 considered an asset.
- Construction survey experience an asset.
- Minimum Class 5 Drivers license.
