About Us
We are opening a new community-focused café located within The Heights at Mount View retirement and assisted living community in Saanich. Our goal is to create a warm, welcoming gathering place where residents, families, staff, and visitors can enjoy great coffee, homemade treats, and meaningful connection.
Inspired by the comfort and nostalgia of a classic neighbourhood café, we'll be serving specialty coffee, milkshakes, floats, fruit pies, date squares, baked goods, and other café favourites.
We are looking for friendly, reliable team members who genuinely enjoy interacting with people and helping create a positive experience for our guests.
Position Overview
As a Café Team Member, you will assist with beverage preparation, food service, customer service, cash handling, cleaning, and general café operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a community-oriented environment and wants to help build something special.
Hours (subject to minor adjustment)
Soft Opening Schedule:
- Tuesday to Saturday
- Café hours: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Staff shifts may begin before opening and end after closing to allow for setup and cleanup.
Please note that operating hours and staffing requirements may be adjusted in the weeks following our soft opening as we establish regular customer traffic and operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare coffee, espresso beverages, tea, milkshakes, and other menu items
- Serve baked goods and light food offerings
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Process payments using a POS system
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards
- Restock supplies and assist with inventory
- Open and/or close the café as required
- Create a welcoming environment for residents, families, visitors, and staff
Qualifications
Preferred but not required:
- Previous café, coffee shop, restaurant, bakery, or customer service experience
- Food Safe Certification
- Experience operating an espresso machine
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who:
