Slated to open late Summer 2026 in beautiful Orléans, Ontario, our brand-new Residence will feature 134 private rooms and 90 shared rooms - each designed for comfort and dignity. Residents will benefit from 24-hour nursing care and personalized support that help them live well, feel valued, and stay connected to what matters most.
Wage Rate: The starting annual salary is $76,000.

Position Overview:
The Employee Engagement Specialist reports to the Executive Director and, in collaboration with the Director of Care, Department Heads, and the Senior Employee Engagement Specialist, conducts a wide range of support functions to implement health human resources (HHR) strategies and workforce plans. This role considers immediate and long-term staffing requirements and leads initiatives in areas such as:

Recruitment & onboarding, with a strong focus on local community outreach and partnerships with schools, colleges, workforce centers, and not-for-profit agencies.

Leveraging social media and digital platforms to attract and engage candidates, enhance employer branding, and build talent pipelines.

Supporting the immigration process for international hires, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and supporting relocation/onboarding needs.

In partnership with the Senior Employee Engagement Specialist, managing government-funded programs (e.g., co-op placements, wage subsidies, training grants) to optimize access to external funding and develop sustainable pipelines.

Overseeing talent scorecards and dashboards, providing monthly metrics, analyzing trends, and sharing actionable insights with leadership.
The Specialist will be expected to apply a data-driven approach to recruitment, retention, culture, wellness, performance management, talent development, and workforce planning.
Responsibilities:

Lead and support all human resources initiatives and coordination at the Home level
including but not limited to: recruitment & onboarding, retention, culture & employee engagement, wellness & absenteeism, performance management, talent development and workforce planning.
Build and maintain local talent pipelines (schools/colleges, co-op/student programs,
community partners, job fairs, referral sources) to reduce time-to-fill and improve fit.
Coordinates recruiting efforts within the Home by sourcing candidates using traditional
posting sites, educational institutions, co-op, student or subsidized programs, local media,
social media, industry specialty sites to obtain candidates for postings Strengthen the
candidate experience through timely communication, organized interview logistics, and
consistent follow-up.
Coordinate and continuously improve onboarding to support safe, confident, and
successful new hires.
Support and implement recruiting processes, tools, resources and training
Aligns home priorities with overall organization’s talent management strategy
Support managers in coaching, mentoring and developing employees through the talent
development and succession planning processes
Support the Director and Talent Management to explore and implement future
enhancements to talent management initiatives and programs.
Demonstrate attitudes and behaviours consistent with a person-centred approach in all
interactions.
Support attendance and wellness practices with leaders, addressing concerns with
managers and employees as needed and aligning with the collective agreement (where
applicable).
Act as the Home’s internal HRIS resource (super-user), supporting consistent use, data
quality, troubleshooting and for the optimum use and benefits of the software system
Produce monthly metrics and highlight trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities (e.g.,
time-to-fill, sourcing effectiveness, onboarding outcomes, retention indicators).
Support the Director of Talent Management to explore and implement enhancements to
Talent Management initiatives and programs.
In partnership with operations, ensure optimal employee utilization during shifts
Manage the employee engagement survey process in the Home, assesses trends, gaps and
outcomes and partners with operations to create action plans.

Qualifications:

Certification in HR (Minimum of a Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Human Resources,Business, Development)

CHRP designation (Certified Human Resources Professional) an asset

Minimum 2–3 years of progressive HR generalist experience (recruitment, onboarding,
employee relations/engagement).
Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment and workplace requirements, including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and duty-to-accommodate and accessibility obligations (Human Rights Code/AODA).
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in Long Term Care and /or in the healthcare industry an asset
Demonstrated ability to manage compliant hiring processes in LTC, including pre-employment screening steps (e.g., Vulnerable Sector Check and related documentation requirements, as applicable).
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
Labour relations experience an asset
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Well-developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact efficiently and courteously (with residents, management, employees, volunteers and external providers)
Strong consultative skills
Must have the ability to be flexible to work days, evenings, nights and weekends to meet with employees as necessary
Strong HR systems capability: good understanding of HR platforms/HRIS and proficiency with G-Suite/Microsoft Office.
High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitiveemployee information.
To show evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and knowing how to turn a task into positive social interaction.
To undertake and meet all legal requirements within a context of promoting individuals’ rights and measuring/reducing elements of risk.
Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing (within the last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X-ray (within the last year), as per Public Health requirements
Two supervisory references required
