Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Litigation Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in litigation, with the ability to effectively represent clients in various legal proceedings. This role requires exceptional research, negotiation, and legal drafting skills, as well as proficiency in utilizing legal research tools such as Law Insider . The Litigation Lawyer will be responsible for managing cases from inception through trial, ensuring that all legal processes are executed efficiently and effectively.
Duties
- Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Draft and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while advocating for their best interests.
- Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to develop case strategies and share insights.
- Maintain accurate records of case progress and document all interactions with clients and opposing counsel.
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and procedural changes affecting litigation practices.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in litigation with a strong understanding of civil procedure.
- Excellent research skills with proficiency in Lexis-Nexis or similar legal research platforms.
- Strong writing skills for effective legal drafting of documents and correspondence.
- Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

About us and what we are looking for:
Greenwoods Dental & Surgical Centres are a medium sized business with many locations in Manitoba and British Columbia. The owner has many other business related to Health Care industry and some real estate. We are looking for another inhouse litigation lawyer to complement our existing team. Skills in drafting agreements with employees, doctors , facilities, contractors, pharmacists , manufacturing facilities etc. would be a big asset for us but not necessary.

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law or will be admitted (currently a final year student)in the relevant jurisdiction(s). We will highly consider a SEMI-RETIRED or RETIRED lawyer who would like to engage in minimal stress part time hours . Income for such an experienced lawyer will be negotiated accordingly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in legal research using Lexis-Nexis or similar tools
- Experience in legal drafting and negotiation
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
