As part of The Hazelwood Group, we're looking for an experienced Commercial Transport Mechanic Journeyperson to support our growing fleet and operations on projects throughout Vancouver Island.

Union rates apply and all benefits are provided through the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115.
Compensation
- $40-45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Vacation pay: 13% of your hourly wage
- Benefits eligibility: After completing 250 hours
- Pension contributions: $5.15 per hour worked
What You'll Do
As a key member of our maintenance team, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and inspecting commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment
- Utilize computerized diagnostic systems to identify faults
- Repair and maintain engines, drivetrains, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and emission systems
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing
- Conduct road tests and operational inspections
- Repair and maintain air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Complete detailed service reports and maintenance documentation
- Collaborate with supervisors to determine repair strategies and equipment requirements
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards
What You'll Bring
- Red Seal Commercial Transport Mechanic certification (or equivalent trade qualification)
- 5+ years of Commercial Transport Mechanic experience
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving abstract
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Experience maintaining trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
- Knowledge of hydraulic, air brake, electrical, and electronic systems
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to safety
