Easter Seals Nova Scotia is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering inclusion, independence, and empowerment for persons with disabilities. Through its four pillar programs — Camp Tidnish, Take PART, Assisted Mobility, and New Leaf Enterprises — Easter Seals Nova Scotia creates meaningful opportunities that help individuals build skills, confidence, and connections within their communities.
New Leaf Enterprises is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to support adults with physical and intellectual disabilities participating in our recreation and wellness programs. This position will primarily work within our day programming environment, helping to create engaging, inclusive, and meaningful experiences that promote social connection, personal growth, and overall well-being.
The successful candidate will provide both group and one-on-one support to participants during recreational, social, and wellness-based activities. Working alongside program staff, the individual will help encourage participation, foster positive relationships, and support individuals in achieving their personal goals while promoting independence and inclusion.
The individual will also assist with planning and facilitating a variety of activities and sessions, which may include arts and crafts, games, fitness and wellness activities, community events, and other recreational programming based on participant interests and abilities. Creativity, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills are important aspects of this role.
In addition, the individual will accompany small groups on community outings and help ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment both on-site and in the community. Responsibilities may include assisting participants with transportation, supporting community participation, monitoring safety, and helping create positive and enjoyable experiences for all involved.
