Summary
The Logistics – Margin Max Team Member plays a key role in driving sales and maximizing profitability through the creation, execution, and maintenance of high-impact merchandising displays throughout the store. This position focuses on end caps, promotional displays, seasonal features, and center aisle presentations that attract customer attention and encourage purchases. The role requires creativity, strong merchandising skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of customer buying habits. While merchandising is the primary focus, this team member also provides excellent customer service and supports overall store operations.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Merchandising & Margin Maximization
- Plans, builds, and maintains attractive end cap, aisle feature, and promotional displays that drive sales and maximize margin opportunities.
- Identifies high-potential products and develops creative merchandising solutions to increase product visibility and customer engagement.
- Ensures displays are visually appealing, fully stocked, accurately signed, and maintained to company standards.
- Collaborates with Management to execute seasonal programs, promotional events, and store initiatives.
- Regularly evaluates display performance and makes recommendations to improve sales results.
- Monitors inventory levels of featured products and communicates replenishment needs promptly.
- Ensures pricing, signage, and promotional messaging are accurate and effective.
- Keeps current on market trends, customer shopping patterns, and product opportunities to support innovative merchandising strategies.
- Actively seeks opportunities to improve store presentation and customer purchasing decisions through creative display execution.
- Maintains flexibility to adjust displays based on inventory levels, promotional changes, and customer demand.
Customer Service
- Provides excellent customer service to all customers entering the store.
- Smiles, makes eye contact with, and greets customers.
- Assists customers in locating products and provides product information when required.
- Answers questions and offers recommendations on featured and promotional products.
- Suggests value-added and complementary products to enhance the customer's shopping experience.
- Responds to customer inquiries, requests, and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Handles multiple customer interactions efficiently while maintaining merchandising priorities.
- Maintains knowledge of current promotions, featured products, and store layouts.
Operations
- Ensures merchandising standards are maintained throughout assigned areas.
- Stocks shelves, end caps, and display locations according to established plans and merchandising guidelines.
- Conducts regular walkthroughs to identify display opportunities, maintenance requirements, and inventory concerns.
- Maintains inventory accuracy and reports low stock, damaged merchandise, or display issues to Management.
- Assists with product movement, display setup, and seasonal transitions.
- Operates computer systems and product scanning equipment as required.
- Participates in team meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Shares ideas and recommendations to improve sales, merchandising effectiveness, and customer experience.
- Complies with company, store, and department policies and procedures.
- Follows all health and safety regulations and reports potential hazards immediately.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with customers and team members.
- Completes other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong creativity and visual merchandising skills with an eye for presentation and product placement.
- Ability to identify sales opportunities and develop merchandising solutions that drive results.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic math, computer, and typing skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift merchandise and perform physical tasks associated with merchandising and display setup.
- Experience in retail merchandising, product presentation, logistics, or customer service is considered an asset.
- Experience with Canadian Tire merchandising programs, planograms, and retail systems is considered an asset.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
In compliance with the store’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures:
- Standing/walking for 8 hours.
- Lifting and/or carrying of merchandise items, as required, on a regular, frequent and unassisted basis. Merchandise items may vary in weight from “light” to “heavy”.
- Lifting and turning repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Lifting above the shoulder, from floor to shoulder and floor to waist.
- Going up and down a ladder while carrying merchandise.
- Walking and carrying things at the same time and pushing/pulling, as required.
- Twisting, turning, reaching and working above shoulder level.
