We are currently seeking a Materials Inspector & Yard Coordinator to join our team in Ladysmith, BC. This is a hands-on, outdoor position that plays a critical role in ensuring incoming materials meet quality standards while supporting safe and efficient yard operations.

What You'll Do
- Inspect incoming scrap metal deliveries for quality, grade, and compliance with company standards
- Accurately record material information, weights, and inspection details
- Direct truck traffic and unloading activities safely within the yard
- Monitor incoming materials for environmental or safety concerns
- Work closely with customers, drivers, operators, and supervisors
- Support daily yard operations and assist where needed
- Identify and report equipment maintenance concerns
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all company safety and environmental policies
A Typical Day Includes
- Walking the yard and inspecting incoming loads
- Communicating with customers and truck drivers
- Verifying material grades and quantities
- Assisting operations teams with production support
- Monitoring traffic flow and ensuring safe unloading practices
- Working outdoors in a fast-paced industrial environment
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience in industrial, warehouse, construction, transportation, recycling, manufacturing, or outdoor operations environments is an asset
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Commitment to workplace safety
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day

Work Environment
This position is performed primarily outdoors in a busy industrial recycling facility. Employees should expect exposure to varying weather conditions, equipment noise, dust, and other conditions typical of a recycling yard. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided and required.
