Independent Marine Supply Store is seeking a knowledgeable, outgoing, self-driven individual to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, demonstrating product features, and driving sales through effective communication and upselling techniques.
Responsibilities
- Engage in retail sales activities, including upselling and cross-selling products to meet sales targets
- Operate POS systems accurately for transactions, cash handling, and receipts
- Maintain merchandising standards and ensure the sales floor is organized and inviting
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Conduct product demonstrations and explain features to enhance customer understanding
- Manage time effectively to serve multiple customers efficiently during busy periods
- Utilize phone etiquette skills when communicating with customers over the phone or via other channels
- Support inventory management tasks such as stock replenishment and product organization
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills to keep track of sales activities and customer interactions
Qualifications
- Background in the marine or boating industry is preferred.
- Prior retail experience beneficial
- Familiarity with merchandising, POS systems, cashiering, and basic math skills for transactions
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on active listening and clear articulation
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle inquiries professionally
- Proven time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
