Fish & Duck Sproat Lake Resort operates 12 charter houseboats, various motorized and non-motorized small watercraft, a marina store, boat moorage, mechanical services, and onside cabins. We strive to provide high-quality service and believe that a positive, keen attitude is key in achieving this.

We are looking for houseboat & accommodation cleaning staff for our next season. We have openings for 4 cleaners with 20-40 hour work weeks. The schedule is varied as to when houseboats depart and return as well as accommodations are booked.
We are located on Sproat Lake, on the outskirts of Port Alberni, British Columbia.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
20-40 hours per week with a start date beginning in April through October. Varied schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform a variety of cleaning duties such as; mopping/vacuuming floors, laundry, washing kitchen/bathrooms, cleaning windows, making beds
- Ensure all houseboats/cabins are cared for and inspected according to standards put forth by the management/supervisory team
- Notify managers/supervisors of any damages

This job requires repetitive tasks such as bending and lifting.
KEY DUTIES:

Ensure the cleanliness and standards of guest cabins

Cleaning bathrooms and kitchen

Making beds, changing sheets and towels

Vacuuming floors, blinds, and upholstered furniture

Dust furniture, fixtures, and surfaces

Stock guest room amenities

Removal and sorting of linen, garbage, and recycling

Assist guests with concerns and requests in a timely manner

Take initiative to add a personalized experience for the guest

Take ownership

Your experience and skills include:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reports for a scheduled shift in on time and ready to work.
-
Attends morning meeting onsite with the Manager or Housekeeping Supervisor to confirm the daily schedule and discuss any special instructions or priorities.

Checks needs lists and bring items listed to assigned houseboats/cabins (When needed)

Ensure the carts are well stocked and organized.
-
Checks and maintains vacuum to ensure vacuum brushes are debris-free, check disposable vacuum bags to ensure the bag is not full, and empties all cloth vacuum bags on a daily basis.

Reporting any damage or maintenance/engineering issues.
-
Ensures complete cleaning of guest rooms, including patios and windows, blinds, and BBQs for 3 pm check-in time.

Lost and found items are to be bagged and labeled with a description of the item, location of where the item was found, current date, and name of room attendant.

Ensures all cabins are cleaned ensuring amenities and applicable stock is placed or replaced in cabins to resort standards.

Ensures all cabin doors are secured on completion of room cleaning. Turning out lights and setting heat/air conditioning to appropriate seasonal settings.

Reports any suspicious activities or behavior on the Fish & Duck Resort grounds to the Manager or Team Lead.

Makes notes of damages or damaged items in rooms and forwards immediate requests to the engineering or maintenance department, all maintenance requests or engineering requests not fulfilled during the day must be brought forward to the Manager or Team Lead.

Able to accept constructive criticism from the Manager or Team Lead and correct any oversight mistakes or changes upon room checks.

Keeps and maintains a clean and organized working area at all times.

Replenishes cart with linen and supplies. Bags dirty rags for delivery to laundry department and replenishes ragbag with fresh rags. Distributes all recyclable goods to appropriate containers.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 1 year of proven previous work history in a high-paced, physically demanding work environment preferred
- Minimum 1 year of proven previous cleaning work history preferred
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull, carry, possibly up to 50 pounds depending on the task required
- Proven ability to carry out instructions in standardized situations
- Ability to work with tight deadlines in an efficient manner
- Ability to observe all safety procedures when handling chemicals
- Proven previous experience as both an independent worker and as a team player required
- Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external guests
- Ability to prioritize efficiently and provide service based on prompt service of changing guests’ needs
- Proven ability to follow company and resort standards, rules, and regulations
- Proven ability to multi-task and take direction well required
- Reliable attendance record required
