Position Summary:
The HSE Program Manager reports to the HSE Manager. He/she is responsible for the design, implementation, communication and coordination of all environmental, health and safety programs to ensure they are consistently implemented and executed throughout all departments and all locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform Hazard analysis and develop Task hazard and safe work procedures in conjunction with Subject Matter experts, HSE Administration, HSE Management and marketing team
- Schedule and or Conduct regular branch/site visits, inspections and audits to measure the effectiveness of current SMS and overall HSE programs
- Coordinate and setup WorkHub, develop training paths by position , monitor compliance , corrective actions and Monthly Safety meetings and review the safety meeting material in advance. Work with Branch Managers on facilitation as well as HSE Manager.
- Ongoing Review of internal HSE policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate; conduct hazard and risk assessments and provide feedback to change existing, or develop new policies and practices from these practices with the HSE Management team.
- Develop and manage new hire orientations/ new worker paths to ensure standards are being met, and sign off on HSE related new hire paperwork, delegate / direct to ensure complete site/shop orientation walk through is completed as well as necessary field mentoring and follow up occurs.
- Work in conjunction with Branch Management , HSE Management , Senior Directors and the HR
Department to implement and make positive changes to the wellbeing and health and safety of all members of SIDE Group.
- Mentor managers and employees to ensure a company wide acceptance of health and safety policies and procedures are understood and are integrated in our company culture
- Assist with preparation on both internal maintenance audits and COR audits in conjunction with External contractors and HSE Management team
- Direct the resources and activities to support the HSE programs and provide advice and guidance to HSE Management.
- Assist with and/ or Investigate all incidents (Recordable Incidents, Potential Losses and First Aids) and ensure proper documentation and records are completed and submitted. in conjunction with Branch and HSE Management team
- Implementation of corrective actions as they relate to the incidents and ensure they are communicated throughout SIDE and are incorporated into the program as revised.
- Stay up to date and current on emerging technical and professional aspects of HSE in the following fields: supply chain , warehouse, transportation, construction, forestry, mining, oil and gas, rail and agriculture
- Manage and coordinate all NSC compliance monitoring, including advisement on permits, log book review through GeoTab and ensure all staff and assets are active and in good standing in conjunction with HSE Management / External adjudicators and projects team.
- Manage and coordinate all WCB related incidents, ensure all contractors WCB accounts are active and in good standing in conjunction with HSE Management / External adjudicators.
- Work with HSE Administration / Management team to regularly submit Company certificates of insurance for all clients who request it on a monthly or yearly basis.
- Work with HSE Administration and Management team to regularly submit employee and contractor hour’s reports to clients as necessary.
- Work with HSE Administration / Management team to regularly update and manage Avetta, Comply Works and ISN profiles and tasks as needed.
- Schedule and implement Pre-Access and Post incident D&A testing
- Mentor, advise and direct HSE Administrators and members of the Audit and Training team
- All other tasks as directed by HSE Manager
Job Requirements:
- Valid class 5 license with a clean drivers abstract
- WHMIS 2015
- First Aid Level C CPR & AED
Education Requirements:
- Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma or equivalent years’ of experience (5+)
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) preferred
