Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Welder to join our sheet metal manufacturing team in Scarborough. The successful candidate will be responsible for welding, fabricating, and assembling sheet metal components while ensuring all products meet quality, safety, and production standards.
This role is ideal for a skilled welder who has experience working in a manufacturing environment and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on sheet metal components and assemblies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
- Weld, fabricate, and assemble metal parts according to specifications.
- Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality standards are met.
- Grind, clean, and finish welded components as required.
- Measure and verify dimensions using calipers, tape measures, and other measuring tools.
- Work with materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Identify welding defects and complete repairs when required.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to meet manufacturing deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing or sheet metal fabrication environment.
- Strong MIG welding experience required.
- TIG welding experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Experience working with sheet metal materials.
- Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work assigned shifts, including morning, afternoon/evening, or night shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- CWB certification is an asset.
- Experience with fabrication equipment such as press brakes, shears, punch presses, or laser cutting equipment is an asset.
- Previous experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment is preferred.
Working Conditions
- Work performed in a manufacturing and production environment.
- Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to welding equipment, noise, heat, and fumes.
- Must follow all workplace safety requirements.
Pay: $21.00-$26.00 per hour
