Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Service Writer to join our automotive dealership team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers needing vehicle repairs and maintenance, ensuring a seamless experience from intake to service completion. This role requires strong communication skills, mechanical knowledge, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. Prior dealership or mechanic experience is highly valued, along with sales aptitude and cash handling skills. The Service Writer plays a vital role in building customer trust, upselling additional services, and supporting the overall success of our service department.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally as they arrive for service appointments
- Accurately document vehicle issues and customer concerns using dealership software
- Provide detailed explanations of recommended repairs and services, ensuring customer understanding
- Upsell additional maintenance or repair services to enhance vehicle performance and safety
- Coordinate with technicians to communicate repair needs and estimated completion times
- Prepare detailed repair orders and process cash or electronic payments efficiently
- Follow up with customers regarding vehicle status and satisfaction after service completion
- Maintain organized records of all transactions, repairs, and customer interactions
- Assist in promoting services through effective communication and product knowledge
Experience
- Dealership experience preferred but not required; automotive repair or mechanic background is a plus
- Strong mechanical knowledge to understand vehicle systems and repair procedures
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Experience in sales, particularly upselling services or products, is advantageous
- Cash handling experience ensuring accuracy and integrity in financial transactions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail
