Summer School Non-Credit Coordinator – Special Education Behaviour Analysts
Description:
The ABA Facilitator will support students with special education needs to support their transitions to school under the supervision of a Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) Behaviour Analyst. The ABA Facilitator may work directly with students and support staff who implement individualized programs for students in a small group setting. The purpose of the summer program is to provide a successful transition to Kindergarten, Grade 9, and back to school using ABA methods, by minimizing potential behavioural challenges that may present with entering and/or returning to a classroom setting.
Details of Function: Based on the applicant's experience and skillset, the Behaviour Analyst will determine and direct the work of the Summer ABA Facilitator.
Responsibilities of the Summer ABA Facilitator may include:
- supporting the Behaviour Analyst in implementing Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA) and ABA-based curriculum assessments;
- working 1:1 with students to implement individualized behaviour support plans with function- based strategies;
- implementing individual skill building programs focusing on the development of functional independence, self-management, and pre-academic skills;
- using behaviour skills training to teach program staff to implement behaviour reduction plans and skill building programs;
- collecting, graphing, and analyzing baseline and intervention data;
- preparing programming materials;
- engage and participate in training sessions as determined by the Behaviour Analyst; and,
- meet regularly with Behaviour Analyst for supervision.
Qualifications:
- Completed undergraduate degree in behaviour analysis, psychology, education or a related field;
- Enrolled in a post-graduate degree program in behaviour analysis, psychology, education or a related field with recognized coursework in behaviour analysis (i.e., verified course sequence in applied behaviour analysis)
- One (1) year of experience providing behaviour analytic services directly to clients/students who engage in challenging behaviour in a clinical or educational setting
Preference will be given to:
- Completed post-graduate degree in behaviour analysis, psychology, education or a related field and completed post-graduate level coursework in applied behaviour analysis and/or a completed verified course sequence (VCS) in applied behaviour analysis
- In process or completed 1500 hours of supervised practice within the field of ABA under the supervision of a behaviour analyst
- Intention to complete supervised hours in alignment with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario

3 years of experience providing behaviour analytic services directly to clients/students in a clinical or educational setting
- Experience with the Functional Behaviour Assessment process and ABA-based curriculum assessments

Experience developing individualized behaviour support plans
- Experience designing comprehensive ABA programs
- Previous successful experience in Summer ABA Facilitator role
- Current BMS Certification or equivalent, including practical application experience
Location: Staff will support transition programs across multiple sites (TBD)
