Mandate:
Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) is a world-leading organization supporting ocean discovery and technological innovation. ONC is a not-for-profit society that operates and manages innovative cabled observatories on behalf of the University of Victoria that supply continuous power and Internet connectivity to various scientific instruments located in coastal, deep-ocean, and Arctic environments. ONC’s cable arrays host thousands of sensors distributed in, on and above the seabed along with mobile and land-based assets strategically located, instruments that address key scientific and policy issues (subsea earthquakes and tsunamis, ocean acidification, marine biodiversity, etc. within a wide range of environments).
The Corporate Operations team comprises Corporate Administration, Human Resources, and Information Technology, and conducts activities in collaboration with ONC leaders to establish tactical priorities that include the development of practical, specific, and realistic objectives that align with ONC’s Strategic Plan.
Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager (CSM), the Corporate Services Coordinator supports the CSM in the delivery of Human Resources related activities in the organization. As a key member of the Corporate Operations team, the Corporate Services Coordinator coordinates ONC’s human resources administration, and supports and delivers corporate services and administrative functions. This position also supervises corporate services administrative staff.
Objectives:
- Coordinate HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, leave management, and WorkSafeBC claims, ensuring efficient and compliant administration.
- Provide HR support to managers and staff, including guidance on policy application, performance management process, and employee development.
- Provide corporate services, including administrative systems, records management, and procedures and processes to ensure effective and compliant operations.
- Support planning and decision-making through analysis, metrics, and coordination of corporate initiatives and policies.
- In consultation with the CSM, manage office space and facilities, coordinating projects, resources, and contractors to meet operational needs.
