Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Office Assistant and Lab Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing exceptional patient care, supporting medical staff, and assisting with minor laboratory procedures. Duties
- Greet and assist patients efficiently and courteously upon arrival
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including documentation and scheduling appointments
- Manage a multi-line phone system for answering patient queries and bookings
- Prepare exam rooms
- Perform basic lab tests and operate medical equipment for vitals checks
- Maintain accurate medical records, update patient information, and ensure confidentiality
- Support physicians and nurses with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and inventory management
- Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of medical tools and lab equipment according to safety standards
- Assist in intramuscular injections as needed, adhering to all safety guidelines
- Assisting with preparation of vaccines, materials for wart removals, ear wax removals, strep tests
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of patient care practices and medical terminology
- Experience with PS Telus EMR or similar EMR is preferred
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate attitude towards patients
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
- Certification or training related to medical assisting or laboratory procedures is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and support staff
- Strong computer skills for managing electronic health records and scheduling systems
- IM Injections certification is preferred
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
