Job Summary
A Centre Team Leader is at the heart of the Centre’s environment, guiding the development, design, and delivery of quality care and enriching learning experiences for every child. They work closely with the Program Supervisor to ensure that every program runs smoothly, providing essential support in their absence. Mentorship is a key component of this role where the Centre Team Leader supports in creating a dynamic workplace where everyone feels valued and inspired to contribute their best. By supporting and motivating their team, a Centre Team Leader ensures that critical reflection becomes a norm. Team Leaders view themselves as co-learners, actively engaging in their professional journey. This collaborative approach not only boosts morale but also enhances the quality of care provided to the children and families we serve. When called upon by the Program Supervisor, the Centre Team Leader may support the administrative tasks that keep the Centre running efficiently.
Mentorship

· Support the educators with the execution of the four foundations of How Does Learning Happen, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.
· Create trusting relationships with and among staff.

· Inspire life long learning amongst staff, children, and families.
Administration
· Support administrative tasks when called upon (Eg. orientating new families, maintaining children’s files as needed, etc.)
· Support and contribute to bi-monthly staff meetings.
· Exhibit the knowledge and skills required to act as designate in the Program Supervisor’s absence.
· Support the Program Supervisor in completing unscheduled monthly visits to all programs when called upon.
Program Management
· Stay current with pedagogy, curriculum and program development and ensure all programs are modeled off How Does Learning Happen, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.
· Support educators in their pedagogical documentation journeys.
· Evaluate the effectiveness of programming and discuss strength-based opportunities with on-the-fly conversations.
· Make suggestions to educators about relevant and meaningful professional learning opportunities available to them.
· Participate in leadership meetings as needed.
Human Resources
· Directly support the Centre Staff and communicate observations back to Program Supervisor and follow up as necessary.
· Assist with the interviewing and training of new staff, as appropriate.
· Be observant of performance issues and ensure that appropriate growth support is provided.
· Provide feedback to Program Supervisor and support the creation of staff performance appraisals where required.
Teamwork & Collaboration
· Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the success of individual and shared job responsibilities, to support the mission and philosophy, thus supporting the successful operation of DCCCCI.
· Communicate professionally and effectively with all involved with DCCCCI and present solutions to problems as required, with confidentiality.
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Establish partnerships with external resources and work cooperatively with them.
· Show strong ability in supporting a positive workplace culture.
· Support educators in conflict resolution while understanding their role in contributing to a healthy, positive work place, free from toxic stress.
Community Relations
· Represent Dutton Child Care in a professional manner
· Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Program Supervisor, staff, parents, the Program Advisor, Community Support Professionals, St. Thomas-Elgin Social Services and the public.
· Participate on Community Committees where beneficial to the organization, where appropriate.
Professional Learning
· Seek out and attend professional learning opportunities that pertain to the position.
· Attend professional learning that is required by DCCCCI.
· Stay current in research and practice on curriculum and program development and all child care licensing requirements.
Health & Safety
· Ensure work area is kept safe and clean.
· Follow health and safety policies and procedures from DCCCCI.
· Identify any potential or actual health or safety concern. Determine whether you can address the situation or inform the Health and Safety Representative and/or Program Supervisor.
· Find ways to identify and reduce the levels of stress on themselves and the staff.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications
· Early Childhood Education Diploma and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators or Relevant Education or Experience
· Current clear Vulnerable Sector Search
· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C
· Valid Driver’s License an asset
· Safe Food Handling Certificate an asset
· Experience with Microsoft Office and Word
