Role
To coordinate and support the planning and execution of inbound and outbound transportation and logistics activities for power transformers and related materials. The role is responsible for preparing shipping documentation, coordinating freight and service providers, supporting transportation planning and customs compliance, administering freight-related purchase orders and invoices, and ensuring the safe, timely, and cost-effective movement of materials while protecting PTI assets and meeting customer, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Gather all information pertaining to outbound rail and truck shipments such as parts list, consignee information, pricing and carrier information and prepare shipment documents.
- Create purchase orders for freight, offloading and oil freight.
- Gather and countercheck invoices against generated purchase orders.
- Working with the Logistics Specialist setting up logistical and financial issues relating to the transportation of materials by heavy duty flat deck, rail, ocean, etc
- Working with the Logistics Specialist providing analysis of freight modes, classifications, dimensional loads, routings for all inbound and outbound freight
- Ensure all shipments and documentation are in compliance with applicable regulations, and as per customer specifications
- Working with the Logistics Specialist communicating any and all logistics related matters with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Handle and resolve customer complaints with the Logistics specialist.
- Working with the Logistics Specialist with Insurance/transport damages – file claims for incoming/outgoing damaged materials
- Working with the Logistics Specialist checking customs issues for inbound/outbound shipments
- Working with the Logistics Specialist in Contracting offloaders – rates, schedules, requisition for purchase orders, and approve invoices
- Working with the Logistics Specialist in negotiating and setting-up export contracts.
- Working with the Logistics Specialist in meeting all departmental goals in relation to output, quality, and on-time delivery of materials
- Attend production meetings as requested by the Operations Manager
- Ensure equipment is being kept in good condition
- Prepare applicable production reports as requested by the Operations Manager
- Communicate milestone dates to Contract Administration & Quality Assurance to schedule inspections, if needed
Requirements
- 1+ year of international traffic management or logistics/supply chain experience
- Experience with customs (Inbound/Outbound), duties, warranty, and insurance, Incoterms
- Solid knowledge of mechanical design of large power transformers is an asset
- Understanding of inventory and purchasing practices
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Computer literacy (Office Suite and SAP)
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in time-constrained situations and under pressing deadlines
- Ability to communicate and work with all levels of the organization and external customers in a constructive manner
- Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications, and bill of material including terms and abbreviations

Pay: $58,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
