Position Summary:
The Housekeeping Aide maintains clean, safe conditions in patient/non-patient areas on a daily basis.
Vacancy Status:
The posting is for one (1) current temporary part-time vacancy.
Hours of Work:
The position will be scheduled on days and/or evenings 7.5, 6 and 4 hour shifts, as needed. Weekends and holidays will be required.
Hourly Wage:
$27.00
Duties and Responsibilities:
- By performing daily occupied, isolation and discharge room cleaning procedures following the best practice guidelines set out by the Regional Infection Control Network.
- By performing daily cleaning procedures in patient areas – wall washing, window cleaning, curtains, around the bed curtains, light fixtures, metal cleaning and polishing, furniture cleaning, vent cleaning. Following the best practice guidelines set out by the Regional Infection Control Network.
- Completing all best practice infection control cleaning documentation.
- Operation and use of equipment to maintain floor surfaces
- Performing daily procedures in non-patient areas, floor washing, damp dusting, washroom cleaning, vacuuming, and high dusting.
- Responsible for coverage of laundry duties, including housekeeping and laundry inventory supply, garbage collection and recycling collection and removal from the building for pickup, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Successfully completed Grade 12 diploma.
- Institutional Housekeeping Aid experience preferred 3 years.
- Must be physically fit to carry out bending, lifting and extended periods of walking or standing and ladder climbing.
- Must be able to carry out the use of heavy equipment for deep scrubbing of floors.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history is a requirement for this position.
- Ability to function as a team player together with co-workers and management.
- Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families and visitors) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Participates in education as required. Completes all required legislative documentation.
