This person will work both driver and valet shifts, combined 3 shifts/week.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Vista on Sparks, located in Ottawa, Ontario is actively seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our growing team.
Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful incumbent in the position of Driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting residents to and from the Community using the Company vehicle(s), in accordance with all legislated requirements and Company standards, policies and procedures.
THE SPECIFICS

- Biweekly Hours: 45
- Shift Times: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (driver shift) and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (valet shift), total 3 shifts per week, may include weekends and holidays

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - DRIVER
- Provide a positive transportation experience for all residents, including assisting with luggage and assistive devices.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and ensure it is in safe working condition, including adherence and documentation of scheduled preventative maintenance and safety checks.
- Delivery of parcels to resident suites.
- Clearing of snow from the front entrance and salting as required; clearing of snow from resident vehicles and ensuring that each vehicle is safe and ready to drive when required.
- Continuously follow our “good customer service” principle and ensure that these values are demonstrated in day-to-day practices.
- Ability to organize work schedule and work under strict time constraints.
- Observe all posted speed limits and rules of the road.
- Work weekends and evenings as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - VALET & DOOR ATTENDANT
- Attend the door at the main entrance, greeting residents, families, guests, and other visitors as the arrive and depart, and holding open the door.
- Attend vehicles upon arrival and departure; open vehicle doors and assist with the handling of luggage, packages, and mobility devices (canes, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.).
- Drive vehicles to designated areas and safely park them.
- Record licence plates and parking spots; label and place keys in a safe location.
- Retrieve and return vehicles upon request.
- Direct traffic in the valet and parking areas.
- Assist in the coordination of other transportation (including company vehicle(s), private taxis and/or rideshares, and municipal transit options).
- Act as ambassador for the community, giving directions, providing customer service, and going above and beyond to make people’s days.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles.
- Clear of snow from the front entrance and salting as required; clearing of snow from vehicles and ensuring that each vehicle is safe and ready to drive when required.
- Maintain entrance, lobby, and common areas, ensuring they are clean and presentable at all times.
- Act as Driver as needed, including covering of breaks.
- Delivery of parcels to resident suites.
- Continuously follow our “good customer service” principle and ensure that these values are demonstrated in day-to-day practices.
- Observe all posted speed limits and rules of the road.
- Work weekends and evenings as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds (including storage of wheelchairs or walkers).
- Physically assist residents in and out of vehicle.
- Mental and visual concentration necessary for safe driving.
- Exposure to variable weather.
- Bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for at least 3 hours per day.
- Walk and stand on a variety of surfaces for at least 3 hours per day.
- Climb stairs, use elevators.
WHO YOU ARE
- Have a valid provincial Driver’s license
- Must be able to provide a clear driving abstract upon hire.
- Have a High School Diploma and/or equivalent driving experience.
- First Aid and CPR Certified.
- Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with team members, suppliers, residents and families.
- Must be able to provide a police check with vulnerable sector screen upon hire.
- Must be able to provide results of TB (tuberculosis) testing (2-step skin test or chest x-ray) upon hire.
- Must be able to provide a record of vaccination for COVID-19 (minimum 2 doses) upon hire.
