J.J. Bowlen Catholic Junior High School is seeking a WIN Junior Teacher. WIN Junior (Grades 7–9) is designed to provide alternative, flexible pathways for students to access learning based on their unique strengths and needs. The program focuses on developing essential skills for real-world success, emphasizing literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development, and foundational life skills through a collaborative, student-centered approach.
As a Program of Choice, WIN Junior empowers families to select a learning environment that best meets their child’s needs. While students may be recommended for the program, enrollment remains a family decision. WIN Junior combines specialized classroom experiences with curriculum opportunities tailored to student interests, strengths, and goals, creating an engaging and personalized learning journey that fosters growth, confidence, independence, and lifelong learning.
Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and collaborative educator to join our WIN Junior team. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in supporting diverse learners through individualized programming, adapted and modified curriculum, and evidence-based instructional practices. This teacher will work closely with educational assistants, families, school personnel, and community partners to create meaningful learning experiences that support student success.
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement engaging, individualized learning experiences that address students' academic, social-emotional, and life-skill development.

Adapt and modify curriculum to meet diverse learner needs while maintaining age-appropriate and meaningful learning outcomes.

Integrate literacy and numeracy instruction across all areas of programming.

Foster student independence, self-advocacy, and readiness for future educational and community opportunities.

Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including educational assistants, school-based staff, families, and external service providers.

Utilize assessment data to inform instruction, monitor student growth, and support Individual Program Plans (IPPs).

Create inclusive learning environments that reflect the principles of differentiated instruction and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Integrate assistive and educational technology to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Promote and model Catholic values throughout curriculum, instruction, and school life.
Qualifications and Competencies

Experience teaching students with diverse learning, behavioral, communication, and developmental needs.

Experience with individualized program planning and transition planning.

Training and/or experience in social-emotional learning, executive functioning, and life-skills programming.

Experience working within multidisciplinary teams in specialized educational settings.

Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a commitment to collaboration and teamwork.

Exemplary teaching practice and a strong understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and pedagogy.

Experience adapting and modifying curriculum to support diverse learning profiles.

Expertise in integrating literacy and numeracy instruction across subject areas.

Proficiency in using assistive and educational technologies to support individualized, strength-based programming.
