Engagement Overview
Insight Global, in partnership with a technology company, is deploying a large-scale GPU data center in Mackenzie, BC supporting the IREN Mackenzie B300 build-out. The engagement covers 644 racks and approximately 50,000 servers across air-cooled GPU infrastructure with NVIDIA SN5610 leaf/spine switching and XE9780 GPU servers. This is a fixed-fee, outcome-based engagement with a 50-person team operating across two shifts, 6 to 7 days per week. Network Technicians are the technical backbone of each deployment pod, executing structured fiber cabling with a high degree of independence and providing guidance and pace-setting direction to L1 technicians within their pod.
Position Summary
The Network Technician / Cabling role spans L2 to L3 skill levels and serves as the senior technical resource within each deployment pod. These are working roles first. L2 and L3 technicians are hands-on installers executing alongside L1 technicians throughout the shift; they do not step away from the work to manage. Technicians at the L3 skill level additionally serve as pod captains, providing primary technical direction within the pod and functioning as the first escalation point for L1 technicians before issues reach the Technical Lead. L2-level technicians support the pod captain as the secondary working anchor. All Network Technicians are expected to maintain client standards and site safety requirements at all times and to model those standards for the technicians working alongside them.
