The Students’ Association of Red Deer Polytechnic exists as per the Post-Secondary Learning Act (see Student Affairs section 93: Students association) and plays an important role in student life at Red Deer Polytechnic. It advocates for and represents students, provides a myriad of important (and fun!) services and events, and is one of the largest employers of students on campus.
What you will be doing:
This position serves as a Kitchen Staff at the Farside Grill. The Kitchen Staff works closely with the kitchen supervisor to support day-to-day kitchen operations and performs other assignments determined by the Operations Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare meat and cheese, wash vegetables, cook egg/chicken, take-out bread for cold subs.
- Prepare a reasonable amount of sandwiches good for one or two days.
- Make the wraps. (This includes cutting the meat, vegetables, adding the dressing and wrapping it individually).
- Prepare (cut vegetables, meat) and make the front salads.
- Cut vegetables and make Veggie bowls.
- Cut fruits and make Fruit bowls.
- Make pizzas.
- Wash and return all the containers and utensils you used for the day. “We have a CLEAN-UP AFTER YOURSELF POLICY” in the kitchen.
- Ensure that your work area is clean and orderly at all times.
- Serve food to customers. Help out in the front when needed.
- Assist in emptying out trash bin in the restaurant area. Take out the kitchen trash bin before the end of your shift.
- Stock supplies in the kitchen.
- Assist in washing dishes.
- Assist/work as line cook and operate fryers during peak hours.
- Maintain a positive and proactive attitude among other staff and customers.
- Report, answer and follow instructions/tasks given by the Kitchen Supervisor/Cook/Operations Director.

Your experience includes:
- Atleast 1-2 years of Kitchen experience is preferred, but not required.
The details:
- Approx. 25-30 hours a week
- Monday - Friday
- Some weekends MAY be required
- This is a term-based position from August to December 2026.
