Operating Principles:
The goal of Culture Is Alive (CIA) is to connect local Indigenous youth with each other, social supports, positive experiences as well as learning and employment opportunities in our community. The program is designed specifically to support our local youth during a vulnerable stage of their lives to become self-reliant and self-sufficient as they transition to cities from remote northern communities and reserves.
The successful candidate will:
· Drop-In projects and activities (creative, cultural, land-based, foods, workshops)
· Point of Connection: Job Shadowing/mentorship program (workshops, training and mentorship/work experience)
· Knowledge of local First Nations an asset
· Mentoring or counselling individual young people
· Help build life skills, developing healthy relationships and make decisions that are right for clients
· Writing and presenting monthly reports
· Must undergo a Criminal Record Check
· Must possess a valid BC Drivers’ License
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Experience:
- working with first nations: 1 year (required)
- mentoring and counselling: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (required)
