The Child Engagement Support Volunteer provides calm, one-to-one engagement for children who benefit from additional relational support during their day. Through play-based interaction and shared activities, the volunteer helps foster emotional safety, connection and participation in the learning environment. This role is designed to supplement, not replace, educator support and is guided closely by qualified childcare staff.
This role involves flexible scheduling with 3-to-8-hour shifts, 2 to 5 shifts per week and includes regular interaction with children at their physical level through bending, sitting on the floor, moving, and playing.
WHAT WE OFFER

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Engage with individual children through play, reading, creative and sensory activities
- Offer a calm, supportive presence during moments of big emotions or dysregulation
- Model gentle, developmentally appropriate social interactions
- Support transitions and daily routines as guided by educators
- Follow established plans and direction from supervising staff
- Share relevant observations with educators (not families)
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
