Overview of Position:
JWC is seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry tasks related to residential and commercial renovation and new construction projects. This position will also support the team through the support and training of Construction Labourers (especially newcomers).
Specific Responsibilities:
- Execute all aspects of renovation and new construction with a high level of knowledge, skill, and workmanship
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
- Ensure compliance with municipal and provincial building code regulations for construction and building repairs
- Perform work involving wood structures, concrete formwork, framing, insulation, drywall installation, taping, and finishing
- Install and finish trim components, including doors, staircases, mouldings, baseboards, casings, and hardware
- Load and unload construction materials and move materials to designated work areas
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment required for residential and commercial building projects
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Perform other duties and activities at construction sites as required
Skills and Competences:
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in carpentry or construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code (asset)
- Experience with framing, drywall, finishing, and general carpentry tasks
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have own hand tools and work boots
Qualifications:
- Mandatory diploma or degree engineering, construction, or a relevant field
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in construction environment
Work Conditions:
- Work outdoors in various conditions
- Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles
- Work in loud, dusty, and possibly moldy environments
- Availability to work in Cambridge and Southern Ontario
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00-$32.50 per hour
