Job Overview: Gobind Sarvar School is looking for a passionate and dedicated Tabla Teacher to join our faculty. The Tabla Teacher will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction in playing the tabla, a traditional Indian percussion instrument. The ideal candidate should possess a strong foundation in classical Indian music and demonstrate the ability to teach students of varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare lesson materials and curriculum for tabla students.
- Teach students proper techniques for playing the tabla, including hand positioning, strokes, and rhythms.
- Customize lessons to meet the individual learning needs and goals of each student.
- Conduct regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to students on their progress.
- Demonstrate and explain complex rhythmic patterns and compositions in an accessible manner.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment conducive to musical growth.
- Organize and oversee student performances, recitals, or competitions as required.
- Stay informed about developments in tabla playing techniques, music theory, and Indian classical music trends.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and lesson plans.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a tabla teacher or performer with a strong background in classical Indian music.
- Proficient in playing the tabla with a comprehensive understanding of its cultural and musical significance.
- Capable of teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey musical concepts and techniques.
- Patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated to nurturing students' musical talents.
- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson schedules, student records, and performance events.
- A bachelor's degree in music, ethnomusicology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
