Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Millwright (Journeyperson or 3rd/4th Year Apprentice) to join our Maintenance team in Edmonton, Alberta.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of production and facility equipment within a gluten-free bakery and chocolate manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting safe and efficient operations while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul production equipment and facility systems
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities
- Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, manuals, and specifications
- Install and align motors, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, shafts, belts, chains, and related equipment
- Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects
- Perform emergency repairs to minimize production downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, GMP, HACCP, and Food Safety requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, and other departments to support operational goals
- Participate in after-hours maintenance projects and shutdown activities as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) Certificate or registered 3rd or 4th Year Millwright Apprentice
- Red Seal certification considered an asset
- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Food manufacturing experience considered a strong asset
- Experience with conveyors, packaging equipment, mixers, ovens, pumps, pneumatic systems, and related production equipment is an asset
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize work and respond effectively in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments
- Occasional work outdoors
- Use of personal protective equipment as required
Schedule
- Full-time, permanent position
- Monday to Friday
- Day shift
- Flexibility required to support maintenance shutdowns, emergency repairs, and special projects

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on apprenticeship level, certification, qualifications, and relevant experience.
