About the Opportunity
Pure Cotton Blanks and The Grid on 17th are the retail and branded apparel ventures of Complete Environmental Group (CEG), a well-established Calgary company with over 30 years of operational history. Pure Cotton Blanks is a premium cotton blanks brand, and The Grid on 17th is a multi-brand retail destination opening Fall 2026 on Calgary's 17th Avenue SW — bringing together five distinct brands under one roof.
We are building the financial infrastructure for these ventures from the ground up, and we're looking for an accountant who wants to be part of that story. This role owns full-cycle accounting across our Canadian retail operations, a manufacturing facility in Portugal, and a corporate office in New York. You'll work across multiple currencies, multiple entities, and multiple time zones — with real ownership and real visibility from day one.
If you're energized by building something, comfortable with complexity, and ready to grow with a brand that's just getting started, this is your opportunity.
What You'll Do
Retail & Inventory Accounting
- Own full-cycle accounting for Canadian retail operations across multiple brands and locations
- Track inventory and freight costs using weighted average methodology across retail and manufacturing entities
- Perform inventory reconciliations, obsolescence reviews, and freight adjustments; coordinate year-end physical counts across locations
- Reconcile point-of-sale (POS) data to general ledger and identify and resolve discrepancies
- Generate and analyze inventory control reports and recommend operational improvements
- Support import/export activities and customs documentation related to product sourcing from Portugal and the USA
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Execute monthly close procedures across Canadian, US, and Portuguese entities with accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
- Conduct variance analysis and provide clear commentary to leadership and international stakeholders
- Prepare and file GST/HST returns for Canadian entities; support sales tax compliance for US operations
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and year-end engagements, including financial reviews and corporate tax returns
- Participate in cross-functional projects supporting brand launches, product rollouts, and new store openings
Multi-Entity & International Operations
- Maintain accurate accounting across entities spanning retail, manufacturing, and corporate operations
- Manage multi-currency transactions (CAD, USD, EUR), including foreign exchange entries and reconciliations
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and eliminations across entities
- Manage bank, capital asset, and intercompany reconciliations with exceptional attention to detail
- Liaise with operations, logistics, and management teams across Canada, the USA, and Portugal
What We're Looking For
Required
- 2–4 years of full-cycle accounting experience, with demonstrated retail or consumer goods industry exposure
- 2–3 years of multi-entity accounting experience, including intercompany transactions and consolidated reporting
- 2–3 years of multi-currency accounting experience, including foreign exchange entries and reconciliations (CAD, USD, and/or EUR)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- CPA designation in progress or recently completed
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling
- Fluent professional English communication — our shared business language across Canada, the USA, and Portugal
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a demonstrated commitment to confidentiality
Strong Assets
- Background in fashion, apparel, lifestyle retail, or consumer goods
- Experience with inventory costing and weighted average valuation methodology
- Familiarity with import/export procedures, customs documentation, and cross-border trade
- Experience with GST/HST multi-jurisdiction filing and/or US state sales tax
- Exposure to point-of-sale (POS) system reconciliation
- Experience with additional accounting platforms (NetSuite, Xero, Sage)
What We Offer
- A founding-team opportunity to build financial infrastructure from the ground up across a growing, culturally driven retail brand
- Hands-on experience spanning retail, manufacturing, and international operations — genuine scope, not a siloed role
- The stability and resources of an established organization backing a high-growth venture
- A salary of $65,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience, with meaningful room to grow as the business scales
Our Commitment to Inclusion
We are committed to building a diverse team and welcome applications from all qualified candidates. Accommodations are available throughout the hiring process upon request.
