Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Crisis Support Coordinator to join the Chatham-Kent Victim Services team. This vital role involves providing immediate assistance and ongoing support to individuals experiencing crises, with a focus on ensuring safety, stability, and access to resources. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need while working within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Education
- Social Service Worker diploma or equivalent
- A Bachelor's degree alongside relevant experience will also be considered
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to crisis calls and provide immediate emotional support and guidance
- Provide case management to clients
- Assess the needs of individuals in crisis and develop appropriate intervention plans
- Coordinate with community resources, mental health services, and emergency responders as needed
- Maintain detailed documentation of interactions, assessments, and follow-up actions
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure safety and stability for clients
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement crisis intervention strategies
- Educate clients and their families about available resources and coping mechanisms
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Empathy, patience, and active listening skills essential for effective crisis intervention
- Ability to assess situations quickly and make sound decisions in high-stress environments
- Knowledge of community resources related to mental health, social services, and child welfare
