What’s the job:
The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for full cycle accounting and producing accurate and timely monthly financial statement packages for the assigned legal entities.
What you’ll be doing:

Prepare and post month-end journal entries
-
Prepare supporting working papers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
-
Perform monthly bank reconciliations, including operating and reserve accounts
-
Maintain detailed account reconciliations and supporting schedules for key accounts
-
Prepare inventory reconciliations and record securitization entries
-
Support lease funding processes, including accounting for equipment purchases, deal funding, and buyouts
-
Prepare and review funder and capital provider reports, resolving discrepancies promptly
-
Review broker fee billings for accuracy and completeness
-
Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet and income statement balances
-
Prepare indirect tax filings (GST/HST and PST) in compliance with regulatory requirements
-
Support audit process by preparing documentation, addressing queries, and liaising with auditors

Perform full cycle accounting and financial statements for small legal entities

Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities

Provide guidance and support to junior team members

Prepare ad hoc analyses and reports to support business needs

Act as backup support for team members during absences

Perform other related duties as required to support team and organizational objectives

Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within accounting workflows

Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and external stakeholders

Perform other job-related duties as required to meet organizational needs
What you bring:

Highly detail-oriented and organized, with strong accuracy and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies

Proven ability to prioritize complex workloads and meet competing deadlines under pressure

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel

3 to 4+ years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate environment

Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or equivalent
-
Currently enrolled in the CPA program (or equivalent)

Experience in the financial services industry, or understanding of US tax filing is an asset
-
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central) is an asset
