Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and responsible Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport freight and heavy equipment, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to safety regulations. This role offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, utilizing various skills including forklift operation and automotive repair as needed. The position requires a professional with excellent driving skills, attention to safety, and the ability to handle heavy equipment efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial vehicles and 5 ton vehicles for the transportation of freight and heavy equipment across designated routes.
- Shunt trailers and dry vans
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle readiness.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during operations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and warehouse personnel regarding delivery schedules and issues.
Experience
- Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, and handling freight is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of automotive repair or troubleshooting is a plus.
- Prior experience in commercial driving or logistics is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in various environments. This role requires a dedicated professional committed to safety, punctuality, and operational excellence. Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
