The Maintenance Helper is responsible for assisting with the effective functioning, upkeep and physical appearance, furniture and equipment in the Home.
- Ensures safety of employees, guests and residents by regularly maintaining equipment and furniture and by providing general upkeep to the physical site.
- As an integral member of the team, participates in matters related to health and safety.
- Sources and orders services/supplies focusing on obtaining the highest quality for the most reasonable price.
- Maintains the appearance and upkeep of the home by implementing regular painting and decorating plans and ensures all furniture and fixtures are operational and in good repair.
- Schedules and conducts regular preventative maintenance activities.
- Participates as a member of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Conducts regular fire and emergency preparedness drills.
- Able to follow regular daily, weekly, monthly and yearly schedule of preventative maintenance activities to ensure the Home and equipment are safe and in good working order.
- Provides minor building, electrical, plumbing and equipment repair services to ensure the optimum functioning of the home and equipment – coordinates with external specialized service providers for support as required.
- Identifies and investigates physical deficiencies and equipment malfunctions and takes the appropriate corrective action.
- Receives and stores all non-kitchen related deliveries
· Is responsible for interpreting and implementing current environmental service policies.

Education/Experience:
· Demonstrated skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and equipment maintenance.

· Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
· Knowledge and ability to operate all fire equipment.

· Physical ability to perform the functions of the job.
· Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and carrying heavy trays and items.
· Must be willing to work the hours necessary to ensure the effective operation of the home.
· Must be prepared to respond to emergency situations.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
