Job Description
Chimax Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Service Inspector (ESI) to perform field inspections and prepare electrical service locate packages for Toronto Hydro-related projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed site inspections, identifying existing and proposed electrical service arrangements, preparing locate forms and LMRF documentation, collecting measurements/photos, and ensuring compliance with Toronto Hydro and ESA standards.
This role requires strong field experience, attention to detail, and the ability to generate accurate and professional technical documentation for customer electricians and utility review.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site electrical service inspections for residential and commercial projects
- Review field orders and coordinate with customers/electricians/office staff.
- Prepare Electrical Service Locate Forms and LMRF documentation
- Verify existing overhead and underground service arrangements
- Identify non-standard conditions and propose compliant solutions as per THESL
- Take accurate field measurements and site photographs
- Prepare bird’s-eye/site routing sketches and proposed installation sketches(locates)
- Verify service clearances, meter locations, mast locations, and service routing
- Identify issues such as:
- inadequate clearances,
- aerial trespass,
- alley jumps,
- tree conflicts,
- legacy/non-standard meter arrangements
- Attach applicable Toronto Hydro standards and supporting documentation
- Escalate non-compliant or critical conditions to THESL East/West where required
- Maintain professional communication with electricians, customers, and project coordinators
Qualifications & Requirements
Consultant personnel assigned to perform services under this scope shall:
- Be a Journeyperson with trade certification
- Have a minimum five (5) years hands-on experience working on distribution assets
- THESL experience is must.
- Comply with all HO-2 clearance requirements as defined in Toronto Hydro Clearance Code Matrix
Additional Requirements:
- Strong understanding of Toronto Hydro standards and ESA requirements
- Experience with overhead and underground service inspections
- Ability to read and interpret electrical layouts and utility standards
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Comfortable using mobile devices/tablets for field documentation
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with Toronto Hydro or utility-related projects
- Experience preparing:
- ESI Locate Forms
- LMRF Forms (Line and Meter Orders)
- Service sketches
- Utility compliance documentation
- Knowledge of THESL service standards and Conditions of Service
- Field experience with residential service upgrades and new service installations

Pay: $300.00-$450.00 per day
