Job Summary
We are looking for skilled Wind Turbine Technicians with hands-on experience working on Siemens 2.3 and Direct Drive platforms to join our Operations & Maintenance (O & M) team in Ontario.
This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge. Technicians will work outdoors in all weather conditions, often at significant heights, and must consistently adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform specific tasks as assigned, routine inspections and preventive maintenance on wind turbines to ensure operational efficiency.
- Follow instructions and adhere to schedules as well as execution plans
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct repairs on turbine components including gearboxes, generators, and control systems.
- Operate equipment as required for component replacement or installation.
- Assist in the installation of new turbines or upgrades to existing systems.
- Follow safety procedures diligently while working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Document maintenance activities and report any safety concerns or system anomalies.
- Demonstrates risk-averse safety behaviour at all times.
- Encourages and recognizes others completing safe acts and intervenes when unsafe acts are practiced.
- Demonstrates integrity, strong initiative, work ethic, as well as a focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis.
Requirements
- Must have experience with Siemens platforms
- GWO-WAH
- GWO-BST
- GWO-ART
- GWO-BTT
- Valid CSTS 2020 Certification – ACSA/ESE (within 3 years)
- Valid WHMIS 2015 Certification – ACSA/ESE (within 3 years)
- Valid LOTO – ACSA/ESE (within 3 years)
- Completion of Advanced Rescue Training would be considered an asset
- Completion of Enhanced First Aid Training would be considered an asset
- Completion of a Confined Space Entry/Monitor Certificate would be considered an asset
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in electrical systems.
- Certified operator for Skid-Steer, Telehandler or other necessary equipment on site(s), would be an asset.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and rigging.
- Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments under various weather conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Relevant technical training or certifications related to wind energy systems are a plus.
- This position is a safety sensitive position. Employees will be required to obtain a negative Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Test (further testing may be required throughout employment to meet various policy or client requirements)
