Job Description
The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the logistics department. This role ensures the efficient coordination of inbound and outbound shipments, carrier management, rate negotiation, and customer service. The Logistics Manager oversees a multi-functional team and drives process improvement, compliance and cost optimization across the logistics network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a diverse team of logistics coordinators, administrators and specialists.
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to direct reports to support their professional growth skill development and career progression.
- Oversee full transportation lifecycle – planning, booking, tracking, and execution across multiple modes of transportation.
- Direct rate negotiations strategies and cultivate carrier partnerships amongst team members to drive cost efficiency and service excellence.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align logistics planning with business needs.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing workflow bottlenecks, enhancing efficiency, and improving customer experience.
- Oversee adherence to transportation insurance policies and applicable governing regulations to mitigate risk and ensure operational continuity.
- Implement financial metrics and KPIs to measure performance across logistics network and vendor partnerships.
- Conduct root-cause analysis of failures and take corrective actions.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience required to perform the job:
- Post-secondary education in Logistics, Business, or Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics or transportation, with 3+ years of people leadership experience.
- Knowledge of end-to-end logistics operations (including maritime, over-the-road, rail, customs)
- Experience in rate negotiation and carrier scorecard management.
- Proficient with transportation management software, and Microsoft Office tools, knowledge with load board systems is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
- Ability to demonstrate personal initiative, ownership and accountability.
Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
