Job Description:
Camp Counsellors will work together as a team under the supervision of the Camp Coordinator to deliver camp activities and programs through hands-on learning and guidance. They will also be responsible for protecting the safety of the campers, through attendance and keeping their assigned group of 5 to 6 campers together. You will receive two weeks of training prior to the start of camp, and will be provided snacks and lunches during the camp days. This Day Camp also includes excursion experiences, including swimming weekly. Working days are Monday to Friday, with STAT holidays off.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work with other camp staff members in planning and executing indoor and outdoor activities for participants
· Lead recreational and educational activities
· Educate campers through arts, games and experiences
· Supervise participants at all times
· Set up and maintain equipment
· Resolve disagreements/behavioural issues between participants
· Make sure all safety rules are followed
· Ensure site is kept clean and organized
· Perform first aid as needed
· Keep accurate incident logs
· Assist with additional programming planning and facilitation
· Assist with additional duties as required
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
· Experience with customer service
· Ability to communicate effectively with the public
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Self-starter and self-directed with initiative
· Knowledge of Metis culture and arts is an asset
· First Aid and CPR is an asset
