Job Description:
Job Purpose
To maintain the quality control of incoming logs, control the log yard and related inventory. To ensure compliance of appropriate rules and regulations by truck drivers delivering logs to LP facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Scaler, assist Scale House Team to:
Ensure accurate weighing of log trucks as they arrive and as they leave.
Ensure compliance with appropriate rules and regulations, ensuring drivers have appropriate licenses and certificates.
Inspect incoming logs to ensure compliance with the government and LP log quality standards; coordinate with Forest Resources when standards are not met.
Use and run the scaling software
Participate in the log yard inventory
Coordinate work with off-loaders and truck drivers to ensure accurate inventory records are maintained.
Prepare daily and weekly reports.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the LP green end log requirements.
Knowledge of the LP environmental management system, forest management and wood fiber utilization.
Knowledge of government regulations, logging utilization standards, log scaling regulations and grading rules.
Strong math skills.
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to operate a computer and supporting software.
Education and Experience
High school diploma required.
Possession of appropriate Weighmaster licence/certificate required.
Current, valid driver's license.
Demonstrated experience in weigh scaling.
Work Environment
Plant or outdoor environment.
