Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Formwork Carpenter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork for concrete structures on various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry, blueprint reading, and the use of hand and power tools. The Formwork Carpenter will play a vital part in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of concrete forms used in building foundations, walls, and other structures.
Duties
- Construct and install formwork using carpentry skills, including measuring, cutting, and assembling components according to schematics and blueprints
- Operate heavy equipment as needed for lifting and positioning form materials
- Install rebar reinforcement within formwork to prepare for concrete pouring
- Use hand tools and power tools to assemble, adjust, and secure formwork systems
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure accurate construction of forms
- Perform concrete finishing tasks once forms are set and poured
- Conduct restoration work on existing structures during renovation or repair projects
- Apply masonry, caulking, flooring installation, welding, and other related skills as required for specialized tasks
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all phases of formwork construction and dismantling
- Assist with the operation of heavy machinery involved in the construction process
Requirements
- Proven experience in carpentry, concrete forming, rebar installation, or related construction fields
- Mechanical knowledge with familiarity in heavy equipment operation and welding is a plus
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints accurately
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and masonry equipment
- Strong understanding of concrete finishing techniques and restoration processes
- Knowledge of renovation practices including flooring installation and masonry work
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods
- Prior experience with blueprint reading and schematics is preferred
- Certification or training in construction safety standards is advantageous
