Cook / Line Cook – Job Description
Jackson-Triggs Estate Winery, part of Arterra Wines Canada, is one of Canada’s most recognized wine brands and a leading hospitality destination in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Our estate offers premium winery experiences, patio dining, private events, seasonal celebrations, and our popular Summer Concert Series in our vineyard amphitheatre.
We are looking for a passionate and reliable Cook / Line Cook to join our culinary team for the season. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced kitchen environment, takes pride in food quality and presentation, and wants to be part of a unique winery hospitality experience.
As a Cook / Line Cook, you will prepare menu items for daily service, patio dining, private events, weddings, and concert nights. You will support food preparation, station setup, cooking, plating, cleaning, and kitchen closing duties while working with a team committed to quality, teamwork, and memorable guest experiences.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare menu items using grilling, sautéing, frying, roasting, and other cooking techniques
- Execute dishes according to quality, consistency, and presentation standards
- Support food service for patio dining, winery events, weddings, concerts, and special functions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
- Assist with food preparation and production during quieter service periods
- Complete kitchen closing duties and end-of-shift cleaning procedures
- Properly handle, label, store, and rotate food products
- Work collaboratively with the culinary and hospitality teams
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or Manager-on-Duty
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of kitchen experience preferred
- At least 6 months of experience in a similar cook or line cook role preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for food, hospitality, and guest experience
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- Food Handler Certification considered an asset
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and event nights
Compensation: $20–$22/hour + gratuities
Expected hours: 20–35 hours per week
