Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Sterilization Assistant to support our dental team in maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sterilization procedures, dental terminology, and infection prevention protocols. As a vital member of our clinical staff, you will ensure that all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, organized, and ready for patient care, contributing to a safe and efficient dental practice environment.
Responsibilities
- Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Prepare sterilization areas by organizing supplies, ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory management.
- Assist dental staff by passing sterilized instruments during procedures in a timely manner.
- Monitor sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Adhere to all health regulations and safety procedures related to infection control and medical waste disposal.
- Support the overall cleanliness and organization of the sterilization area to promote a safe clinical environment.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to accurately document procedures and communicate effectively with team members.
- Set up and clean up the operatories after procedures
Experience
- Prior experience in a dental or medical sterilization setting is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Familiarity with sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and disinfectants is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of infection control practices within healthcare environments.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to follow precise instructions and adhere strictly to safety protocols.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is beneficial for effective communication within the clinical team.
