I am an orthopaedic surgeon establishing a comprehensive specialty clinic focused on shoulder and musculoskeletal care. I am seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner who is interested in surgical specialties, particularly orthopaedics, and would enjoy a varied, hands-on clinical role.
This is not a conventional primary-care position. It is a dynamic opportunity combining outpatient orthopaedic care with hospital-based responsibilities, fracture clinic experience, and participation in the operating-room environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with me and become an important member of a growing multidisciplinary team that includes orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients with orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions
- Obtain clinical histories and perform focused physical examinations
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the orthopaedic surgeon
- Conduct patient consultations and follow-up assessments
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgery, and rehabilitation
- Participate in fracture clinic assessment and follow-up
- Support preoperative and postoperative patient care
- Perform appropriate injections and clinical procedures within the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice
- Assist in the operating room when appropriately trained, credentialed, and authorized
- Coordinate care with physiotherapists, imaging facilities, primary-care providers, and hospital teams
- Review investigations and facilitate referrals and follow-up care
- Contribute to the development of clinical pathways, protocols, and patient-education materials
- Help build and shape a new model of comprehensive orthopaedic care
Qualifications
- Registered in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner in Ontario
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
- Motivated to learn and develop expertise in orthopaedic and surgical care
- Interested in a diverse role involving clinic and hospital-based responsibilities
Previous experience in orthopaedics, surgery, fracture care, perioperative nursing, emergency care, or musculoskeletal medicine would be an asset but is not required. Training and mentorship will be provided. Clinical curiosity, motivation, and a genuine interest in surgical care are more important than a specific number of years of experience.
What We Offer
- Direct mentorship and training from an orthopaedic surgeon
- Exposure to outpatient orthopaedics, fracture clinic, and operating-room care
- A varied clinical role with substantial potential for professional growth
- An opportunity to help establish and shape a new multidisciplinary specialty clinic
We are looking for someone who wants more than a routine office-based Nurse Practitioner position—someone enthusiastic about orthopaedics, procedural care, surgical practice, and building something
