Internal Auditor
Location: Mississauga, ON (Near Pearson Airport)
Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 + Benefits
Work Arrangement: Fully onsite during probation, transitioning to 1 day remote per week
Reports To: Vice President, Finance
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an Internal Auditor to join their growing finance team in a newly created role within the Real Estate industry. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, this position will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of financial reporting across multiple business entities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys identifying risks, strengthening financial controls, and driving process improvements. What You'll Be Doing
- Review monthly and annual financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Analyze financial reporting packages, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate unusual variances, discrepancies, and reporting inconsistencies across multiple entities.
- Act as the final quality assurance checkpoint before financial reports are issued.
- Ensure consistency in accounting practices, reporting standards, and financial controls.
- Partner with Property Accountants, Accounting Leadership, and operational teams to resolve issues and improve reporting quality.
- Develop and enhance internal controls, review procedures, and standardized accounting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting timelines.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership regarding financial risks, trends, and process improvements.
- Support audit requirements and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory reporting standards.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation completed or in progress is considered a strong asset.
- 5–8 years of experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, or a related function.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Experience within Property Management, Real Estate, or a related industry is highly preferred.
- Experience with Yardi is considered an asset.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
