As a new property, this is a unique opportunity to join our leadership team from the ground up and play a key role in establishing the hotel's presence within the Ottawa market.
Position Overview
We're looking for an energetic and entrepreneurial Sales Manager who enjoys building relationships, creating new business opportunities, and driving measurable results.
As the hotel's dedicated sales leader, you will be responsible for generating and managing corporate, group, and extended-stay room business while selling our meeting space as part of larger room packages. You'll oversee the sales process from prospecting through contracting and handling event details.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently while collaborating with an experienced operations team. Compensation includes a competitive salary plus an incentive, allowing your earning potential to grow alongside your success.
While Marriott experience is considered an asset, it is not required. Comprehensive training will be provided, and the successful candidate will be expected to become proficient with Marriott systems, including One Source, One Yield, Fosse, and MarRFP, within the first 3–4 months.
You'll work closely with the Assistant General Manager, Revenue Manager, Administration, and Front Desk teams, along with the rest of the leadership team, to ensure every booking is delivered with exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively prospect local businesses, associations, government, sports, and group markets to generate new corporate and group room business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local organizations and key decision-makers.
- Sell hotel meeting space as part of room night packages.
- Represent the hotel within the community by attending networking events, visiting clients, and engaging with guests on property to uncover new business opportunities.
- Develop and manage strategic corporate accounts, negotiated rates, and promotional packages to maximize occupancy and average daily rate (ADR).
- Manage the sales process from initial inquiry through contracting and client follow-up.
- Prepare sales reports, forecasts, budgets, and market analysis.
- Support local marketing initiatives, partnerships, and promotional campaigns that drive direct business.
- Assist with proposals, contracts, and group communications, with support from the Front Desk and Administration teams as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hotel sales experience.
- Marriott experience is an asset but not required.
- Demonstrated success generating new business through prospecting, networking, and relationship development.
- Strong understanding of hotel sales strategies, revenue management, and market segmentation.
- Experience managing corporate and group room sales from prospecting through contracting.
- Experience with One Source, One Yield, Fosse, MarRFP, or similar hotel sales systems is preferred; training will be provided.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative leadership team.
