Primary Purpose: The HR Generalist, Shared Services for Abatement Canada and Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery is responsible for managing various HR functions, including administering employee benefits programs, facilitating recruitment efforts, and fostering positive employee relations for a 14 month fixed term contract.
Essential Job Functions:
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plan, and other fringe benefits, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries from employees, providing guidance, support, and timely resolution of issues.
Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding
- Partner with department managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent.
- Partner with managers to develop and maintain accurate job descriptions, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and alignment with business needs.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offers.
- Lead large-scale seasonal hiring initiatives, including the strategy and execution of the annual Ravine career fair.
- Partner with staffing agencies as needed and ensure positions are filled on time. Ensure contracts are valid and handle vendor management responsibilities.
- Conduct new hire orientations and facilitate onboarding activities to ensure a seamless transition for new employees into the organization.
- Supports voluntary and involuntary terminations, including exit interviews, highlights & communicates trends, offboarding and asset retrieval.
- Regularly check in with and support managers regarding employee performance concerns, offering guidance and resources as needed.
Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted advisor and resource for employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Address employee relations issues and conflicts promptly and effectively, conducting investigations as necessary and recommending appropriate resolutions.
HR Policies, Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment laws and regulations, staying abreast of changes and updates that may impact HR policies and practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, Handbook and HRIS data, generating reports and analytics as needed to support HR and business objectives.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes through automation and technology enhancements, driving efficiency, and improving the employee experience through innovative solutions and best practices.
- Stay informed about trends and developments in HR practices, technology, and legislation, proactively recommending changes and improvements to HR programs and policies.
- Collaborate with the HR team to implement new HRIS functionalities and enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and HR colleagues to support organizational initiatives and projects as needed.
Organizational Resources and Communications
- Maintain and regularly update organizational resources, including staff directories, organizational charts, employee headshots and HR templates.
- Create, order, and distribute employee business cards in a timely manner.
- Prepare and coordinate internal communications and announcements to promote engagement and deliver an exceptional employee experience across both organizations.

Education and Work Experience: Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience. CHRP is an asset but not required. Minimum 1 year of experience in HR. Experience with Dayforce is an asset.

- Collaboration: Working effectively with other HR team members and cross-functional departments to deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Typical hours of 8:00AM – 4:30PM, Monday – Friday alternating work locations between our Abatement Canada Head Office in Fort Erie, ON and Ravine Vineyard in St. Davids, ON.
- Most of the work is completed in an office setting.
