Job Overview
We are accepting applications for one Communicative Disorders Assistant in our Ajax location. In this position, you will provide a variety of centre and community based rehabilitation services under the supervision of a speech language pathologist, according to operational need. You will provide services alongside family-centered care and parent engagement and prepare therapy materials as required or requested by clinicians. You will have the opportunity to participate as a member of the speech discipline, clinical multidisciplinary team and resource committees to promote quality service for children.
Duties
- Assist speech-language pathologists in delivering therapy sessions tailored to each patient's needs
- Support patients of all ages, with a focus on pediatric populations, to improve speech, language, and communication skills
- Prepare therapy materials and set up equipment to ensure smooth session flow
- Monitor patient progress and document observations accurately for review by licensed professionals
- Engage with patients in a positive manner to motivate participation and build rapport
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapy environment adhering to health and safety standards
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care plans effectively
Requirements
- Experience working with pediatric patients or in pediatric therapy programs is preferred
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to speech and communication disorders
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and support diverse patient populations
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Certification or training related to communicative disorders or speech therapy assistance is mandatory.

Pay: $20.00-$40.00 per hour
