Sous Chef - Trattoria di Como

Trattoria di Como is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team in the heart of Whistler Village.
Inspired by the timeless trattorias of Northern Italy and the spirit of Lake Como, Trattoria di Como is a refined yet lively restaurant focused on authentic hospitality, handmade pasta, premium seasonal ingredients, classic technique, and a deeply team-oriented kitchen culture.
This is an opportunity to join one of Whistler’s most exciting restaurant projects as we continue to re-establish a historic dining room into a premier destination for locals and visitors alike.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a strong, hands-on Sous Chef who thrives in a high-energy professional kitchen and leads by example through consistency, organization, calm leadership, and attention to detail.
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience in upscale casual or fine dining kitchens
- Understands pasta, butchery, sauces, and classic European technique
- Leads respectfully while maintaining strong standards and accountability
- Works cleanly and efficiently under pressure
- Is highly organized with prep systems, ordering, and inventory control
- Communicates effectively with both BOH and FOH leadership
- Takes pride in mentorship, training, and team development
- Wants to grow long-term within a respected hospitality group
Responsibilities
- Support daily culinary operations and service execution
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff during prep and service
- Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation standards
- Assist with ordering, inventory, scheduling, and food cost controls
- Ensure cleanliness and adherence to food safety standards
- Support menu development and seasonal feature execution
- Help cultivate a positive, professional kitchen culture
Qualifications
- 3+ years of leadership experience in professional kitchens
- Strong line cooking and service management abilities
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Food Safe certification required
- Red Seal certification considered an asset
