Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, assist with product merchandising, and ensure the deli area operates smoothly. This role offers an opportunity to develop sales skills, work in a dynamic environment, and contribute to a positive shopping experience for our customers. Bilingual abilities and experience with retail sales or cashiering are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their selections in the deli department
- Prepare and serve deli products, including slicing meats and cheeses, following safety and quality standards
- Operate POS systems for transactions, handle cash and process payments accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli area, including product displays and storage areas
- Upsell products by recommending complementary items to enhance customer satisfaction
- Restock shelves and ensure product freshness through proper merchandising techniques
- Provide product demos when applicable, explaining features or ingredients to customers
- Manage customer inquiries professionally via phone or in person, demonstrating excellent communication skills
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain proper food handling practices
Skills
- Strong customer service skills with excellent communication abilities
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, and basic math for transactions
- Organizational skills to manage stock levels and maintain a clean workspace
- Time management skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks during busy periods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Multilingual or bilingual capabilities are a plus for serving diverse customers
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques to display products attractively
- Experience in retail sales, cashiering, or food service is advantageous

Pay: $16.00-$19.00 per hour
