Vacation Rental Cleaner / Housekeeper – Brookside Coastal Estate
About the Position
Brookside Coastal Estate is a high-end coastal vacation property in the Chimney Corner area of Cape Breton. We are looking for an additional reliable and detail-oriented cleaner to support our existing property management and cleaning team.
Our current team is well established, and this position is intended to provide additional help with selected guest turnovers, particularly as schedules and availability vary throughout the rental season. This is a part-time/casual position averaging approximately 5–12 hours per week, depending on bookings.
Unlike a traditional residential cleaning position, vacation rental turnovers involve cleaning, preparing and resetting the property within the time between departing and arriving guests. Attention to detail, reliability and pride in presenting the home well are therefore very important.
Responsibilities may include:
- Working alongside our existing cleaning team during guest turnovers
- Cleaning and preparing bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas
- Changing bed linens and making beds
- Vacuuming, mopping, dusting and cleaning surfaces, fixtures and glass
- Cleaning and resetting the kitchen and bathrooms
- Assisting with guest-supply restocking and presentation of the home
- Identifying and reporting damage, maintenance concerns or missing items to the Property Manager
- Helping ensure the property is completely guest-ready before the next arrival
- Assisting with occasional exterior/deck cleanup when required
- Potential responsibility for off-site laundering of bed linens between turnovers for a dependable candidate interested in taking on this role
Schedule
Turnover days vary according to guest bookings. Brookside now operates with shorter minimum stays rather than a fixed weekly turnover schedule, so flexibility to work on different days of the week is important.
Advance notice of scheduled turnovers will normally be available through the booking calendar. The position is expected to average approximately 5–12 hours per week, although hours will vary depending on occupancy and the availability of the existing cleaning team.
This would be particularly well suited to someone looking for flexible supplemental work rather than a fixed full-time schedule.
What We’re Looking For
Previous professional cleaning, housekeeping, hospitality or vacation-rental experience is an asset, but reliability and attention to detail are more important than formal experience.
The ideal candidate is dependable, efficient, comfortable working as part of a team, able to work independently when required, and takes pride in leaving a property exceptionally clean and well presented. Reliable transportation to Brookside Coastal Estate is required.
Because laundry support is an important part of strengthening our turnover system, we are particularly interested in candidates who may be willing to take responsibility for off-site linen laundry between guest stays.
Compensation
$25–$28 per hour, depending on experience and responsibilities.
On-site parking is provided. Scheduling is flexible and based around guest turnover dates.
Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
